NELSON BUTTERS AWARD  (ARCHIVES OF CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY)
The award is made for the best research paper published in the Archives of Clinical Psychology over the preceding year.

 DISTINGUISHED LIFETIME CONTRIBUTION TO NEUROPSYCHOLOGY AWARD

This award is given to a senior member of NAN who has made significant scientific, intellectual, and training-related contributions to the field of neuropsychology.  Nominations from the general membership are evaluated by the Awards Committee, who then make a recommendation to the NAN Board of Directors.  The award recipient gives an invited address at the annual conference, which is subsequently published in Archives.

Nominations are typically made by members of the NAN Board of Directors, evaluated by the Awards Committee, and then a recommendation is made back to the NAN Board of Directors.

EARLY CAREER AWARD

This award is given to someone who is nominated by the NAN membership and judged by the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors to have made substantial early career contributions within 10 years of the doctoral degree, particularly regarding scholarly activity.  Nominations are requested from the membership at the same time as those requested for other awards.  Nominees are rated by the Awards Committee and a recommendation for the award is given to the NAN Board

EARLY CAREER SERVICE AWARD

This award is designed for someone who is within 10 years of receiving the Ph.D. and who has made substantial early career service contributions to NAN and neuropsychology in general. This is NAN's newest award and will be made for the first time in 2006. Nominations will be taken from the NAN general membership, evaluated by the Awards Committee, and then a recommendation will be made to the NAN Board of Directors.

OUTSTANDING DISSERTATION AWARD

This award will given for the first time in 2008 to the best neuropsychology-related dissertation or dissertation project for the previous calendar year.  Nominations for the award are received from the NAN general membership.  Dissertations or dissertation projects must have been completed and successfully defended by the time of nomination.  Projects are evaluated by the Awards Committee, and a recommendation is made to the NAN Board.  The winner of the Outstanding Dissertation Award is expected to present his/her study at a poster session during the annual conference and submit the study for publication to ACN.

  

STUDENT POSTER AWARD

This award is made at the annual NAN conference for the best student poster. The general procedure for selecting this award begins when students submit a poster for the annual conference, and they indicate that they would like the poster considered for the award. The Program Committee then rates each poster and grants awards to the most meritorious posters.
