Job Description Job Description: Barrow Neurological Institute, one of Phoenix Children's Hospital's six Centers of Excellence, is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of children neurological diseases and disorders by offering the most advanced and comprehensive care for children with neurological injury or related diseases or other non-neurological conditions, innovative research, and professional and community education. The Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) is seeking two full-time, pediatric neuropsychologists, with experience assessing individuals with CNS disorders, to join the current staff of 4 clinical pediatric neuropsychologist practitioners. The service focuses on the neuropsychological assessment of children with complex health issues, acquired injuries, and those undergoing treatment that impact central nervous system functioning. The clinical work is primarily outpatient, but will also include inpatient and team consultation. Neuropsychology referrals come from various providers from disciplines such as neurology, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology, developmental pediatrics, general pediatrics, transplant services, etc. This exciting position will include the evaluation and assessment of pediatric patients with medical, developmental, psychiatric, and chronic conditions associated with a multitude of disorders. This pediatric neuropsychologist will provide clinical neuropsychological examinations to patients using models of brain-behavior relationships to provide evaluation and assessment, treatment, education, and consultation to improve clients' functioning to their highest feasible level. Possibilities of developing or continue clinical research programs within various areas of interest also exist. The neuropsychologist will have the opportunity not only to provide services to patients, but will also participate in inpatient/outpatient care conferences as part of their collaborative work with members of the interdisciplinary medical team and participation in the education programs associated with a leading academic and research organization. The Psychology/Neuropsychology Division of the BNI at Phoenix Children's provides the opportunity to supervise trainees through the department's extensive clinical training programs. These training programs include an APPCN accredited post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology, an APA accredited internship program in Psychology, and several Practicum Placement students from local colleges and universities. Building on our collaboration with Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, and Arizona State University, Schools of Biological and Health Systems Engineering and Biomedical Informatics, the successful candidate will possess the ability to work as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary medical and educational team of the BNI at PCH. In addition, there is an opportunity to receive an academic appointment through the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine. Position One Required Qualifications: Qualifications for the position include fluency in Spanish, doctoral training and internship at APA-accredited programs, with post-doctoral training in a medical/psychiatric/developmental setting. Graduate and internship training with an emphasis on assessment and treatment of children and families affected by psychiatric, developmental and medical illness, and experience with pediatric populations is essential. At least three years of demonstrated, post-doctoral experience and proficiency with pediatric clinical neuropsychology experience is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Professional Psychology, and obtain psychological licensure by the State of Arizona prior to the employment start date.
