Job Description The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking an academically trained neuropsychologist to provide comprehensive adult neuropsychological services to patients with central nervous system (CNS) tumors. Candidates must have a California psychologist license. The clinical services will be performed within the scope and in the manner consistent with either the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ACBN) or the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) guidelines and will include administration of neuropsychological tests and psychological measures related to neurocognitive processes affected by disease, treatment, or other factors. The expectation is that a neuropsychologist will actively engage in clinical/translational research, including clinical trial support and development. Interest in and experience with analysis of neuroimaging data would be an asset. It is also expected that a neuropsychologist will build a sustainable clinical service and will work closely with physicians, nurses and social workers to develop a quality-of-life program.
Specific services provided will include (but are not limited to):
Pre-treatment baseline evaluations for individuals with primary brain tumors
Post-treatment evaluations to document neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric outcomes
Comprehensive written reports regarding the neuropsychological evaluation with specific recommendations regarding follow-up intervention for neurocognitive issues
Specific feedback to referral sources regarding the cognitive and psychological function of the patient
Patient and family feedback sessions regarding the results of the evaluation and specific recommendations
Development and implementation of quality-of-life program with other health care professionals
Participation in clinical trials research
Participation in training of medical students and other health care professional trainees
The faculty member will be expected to teach in formal and informal educational courses provided by the Department of Radiation Oncology for medical students, residents and fellows, as well as contribute to continuing medical education efforts including the departmental annual scientific conference.
We intend to hire at the instructor of assistant rank in the adjunct series. The salary is open to negotiation.
