Neuropsychologist III Job ID # 7501
Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Neuropsychologist III at UCSF Neurology will provide neuropsychological and psychological assessment services to complex patients through consultation and evaluation. Patient population served will be primarily comprised of patients with adult and pediatric epilepsy, though patients with other neurological disorders will also be seen. The neuropsychologist may also need to perform intracarotid amytal testing (Wada procedure) as well as extraoperative/bedside language mapping. The incumbent will also consult with Medical Director and other professional personnel in medical center, concerning the need for, evaluation of, and development of neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and cognitive rehabilitation services to enhance patient care.
The incumbent will also provide consultation and training to staff and trainees, and may provide supervision to psychology or neuropsychology doctoral students, interns, and fellows. Provides leadership, guidance, and consultation to other staff members regarding neuropsychological and psychological issues.
UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

" The neuropsychologist will be responsible for neuropsychological screenings and evaluations, and psychological and behavioral assessment for patients across the lifespan with epilepsy and other neurological disorders, as well as other medical and mental health issues as needed. S/he will develop and implement a plan of treatment and evaluate patient outcomes. S/he will collaborate with and counsel patients and families regarding assessment/evaluation findings and plan of care.
" The neuropsychologist may be called upon to conduct intracarotid amytal testing (Wada procedure) as well as extraoperative/bedside language mapping.
" The neuropsychologist will provide neuropsychological consultation, and may also be asked to: conduct therapy within a variety of modalities such as individual, family or group settings; provide cognitive rehabilitation services; and assist with patient behavioral management.
" The neuropsychologist will be analyze outcome/follow-up data for purpose of performance improvement. S/he will maintain related documentation as per UCSF policy. Ensure that administrative procedures related to referral triage, patient billing, and insurance authorizations are done effectively.
" The incumbent will collaborate with referring physicians to exchange information regarding evaluation and treatment of patients to assure comprehensive, effective and efficient service.

" The neuropsychologist may interview, train, evaluate and counsel support staff.
" The neuropsychologist may develop, recommend, implement, and update policies and procedures related to behavioral health.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
" A Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an accredited institution in clinical psychology
" Completion of APA approved internship, with specialization in clinical neuropsychology
" Completion of two-year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology
" At least 2 years experience (or equivalent) with child/adolescent patients (this may include intervention)
" Eligibility for board certification in clinical neuropsychology
" Board of Psychology License in the State of California
" Minimum of 6 years of experience with neurologically and cognitively impaired patients and their families, including but not limited to pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and professional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Experience working in medical settings
Knowledge of empirically-based mental health interventions
Knowledge of basic psychopharmacology
Experience with epilepsy and neurological disorders
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
