The New York Campus of the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System is seeking candidates for one full-time clinical neuropsychologist position. Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology program, completion of an APA-approved Psychology internship, and at least 2 years of postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology consistent with joint INS-APA Division 40 training guidelines. U.S. citizenship is required, along with licensure or license eligibility in any U.S. state.
A broad knowledge base and assessment experience with a range of neurodegenerative disease, traumatic brain injury, and other neuropsychiatric disorders is expected. Demonstrated experience and interest in providing evidence-based remediation modalities to patients with traumatic brain injury, treating its emotional impact on veterans and their families, assessment of ADHD and learning disorders, and Spanish-language fluency are highly desirable but not required.
Primary responsibilities will include assuming a leading role in the neuropsychological assessment of referrals from a variety of outpatient services as described. Related responsibilities will include supervision of neuropsychological evaluations in the APA-approved Psychology Internship program, providing lectures for the Psychology Internship seminar series, and attendance at departmental meetings and didactics within the VA System and NYU Medical Center. Additional expectations include conducting Compensation & Pension exams for veterans seeking VA disability benefits and being available one evening each week. Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine is possible.
