Call for Student Volunteers

We invite you to apply to be a Student Volunteer at this year’s National Academy of Neuropsychology Annual Conference in Chicago, IL. The 2026 conference will be held at the Hilton Chicago from Wednesday, October 14 - Saturday, October 17. Students will be assigned to help with conference registration, workshop monitoring, CE scanning, and various other activities beginning in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 13.

To be a Student Volunteer, you must be an active Trainee Member of NAN with current dues status at time of application (2026 dues paid). If you are not sure if you are a current trainee member of NAN, please login to your NAN account to check your membership status. If you need to renew for 2026 or join to become a trainee member of NAN, you can do so upon logging into your member account.

Volunteer applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are selected as a Student Volunteer, you will receive the following benefits in exchange for 12 to 14 hours of volunteer time:
-Free Conference registration
-Free hotel accommodations for 3 - 4 nights based on your volunteer schedule. (Rooms will be shared with other Student Volunteers).

Please carefully consider whether you are willing to commit to the required number of hours, and ensure that you are able to take that time off from school/work before applying. Failure to fulfill your obligation will result in you being charged for the hotel room and conference registration. Please do not assume that by applying you are automatically a Student Volunteer. Students who are accepted as volunteers will be notified in June 2026. Schedules will follow at a later date.

Meet & Greet with Training Directors 

NAN is excited to continue our tradition of supporting trainees by hosting a dedicated networking session at the Annual Conference. This year’s Training Director Meet & Greet offers trainees and future applicants the opportunity to connect directly with training directors, learn more about programs, and ask questions about the application and interview process.

Outstanding Postdoctoral Conference Travel Award | Deadline: July 15

Brought to you by NAN's Trainee Committee
Postdoctoral fellows completing a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology and those that will be a postdoctoral fellow at the time of the conference are eligible to apply for one of ten $500 scholarship awards to use towards travel/attendance at the NAN Conference use towards travel to the NAN Conference in Chicago.

Eligibility:
1. The applicant must be participating in-person. An oral or poster presentation is preferred but not required.
2. The applicant must be completing a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology and a postdoctoral fellow at the time of the conference. 
3. The applicant must be current dues-paying NAN postdoctoral members.
4. The applicant should demonstrate commitment to the field of neuropsychology through their clinical experiences, publications, and/or conference presentations. 

Applicants will need to submit the following:
1. A copy of your CV

2. A two-page (or less) letter of intent describing: 
 - your career trajectory, relevant background in neuropsychology (i.e., professional training including clinical and academic experiences), and alignment with NAN values.
-  how being a member of NAN has benefitted your career
- how attending the NAN conference will enhance your professional growth
- perceived barriers you have faced while in pursuit of an education in neuropsychology

Fifteenth Annual Edith Kaplan Scholarship Award | Deadline: July 15

Brought to you by NAN's Women in Leadership Committee (WIL)
All trainee members (post-graduate, graduate, or undergraduate) who have not previously received this scholarship are eligible to apply for the 2026 WIL Edith Kaplan Scholarship. Applications from both women and men are welcomed and encouraged. Scholarship recipients will receive free registration for the WIL Event and $450 to defray travel expenses.

To apply, please submit a 500-word (min) to 1000-word (max) essay on the following topic: "Neuropsychology does not exist in isolation—it intersects with numerous other fields, including medicine, behavioral health, education, and public health. Advancing the field requires collaboration with other professions to enhance patient care, research, and policy development. Discuss how you see neuropsychology evolving through interdisciplinary collaboration. How can neuropsychologists work effectively with other professionals to expand their role and impact? What challenges might arise in these collaborations, and how can they be navigated? Additionally, reflect on your own experiences or aspirations in working across disciplines to strengthen neuropsychology’s contributions."

WIL Sponsorship Program | Deadline: September 1

The Women in Leadership (WIL) Committee of NAN is pleased to announce an opportunity for promising graduate students or postdoctoral fellows to shadow “behind the scenes” conference activities and spend one-to-one time with leaders in the field of neuropsychology. The WIL Sponsorship Program has identified several leaders who have agreed to share a few hours of their time during the annual NAN conference. If selected (typically 3-5 selected), your sponsor will contact you prior to the conference, as an introduction. You will meet your sponsor at the NAN conference, including time for informal one-to-one conversation and the opportunity to meet some of your sponsor’s colleagues. All genders welcome. 

Past participants have described this opportunity as informative and encouraging. If interested, please click here to complete the application. Provide a brief (2-3 sentences) description of your interest in this Sponsorship Program and rank the topics you would most like to discuss with a sponsor. The application must be accompanied by names and contact information for two recent supervisors who can describe 1) your professional interests, 2) your strengths and accomplishments, and 3) your potential for success in neuropsychology.
