Job Description PEDIATRIC NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST: Inpatient - Phoenix Metro, AZ

Banner Children's Specialists (BCS), a multispecialty group within Banner Health, is actively seeking a full-time Neuropsychologist. This position provides quality neuropsychological diagnostic testing services in the inpatient setting for patients with complex medical conditions and CNS issues. Referrals generally come from Trauma, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Hematology/Oncology, Cardiology, and hospitalists and include a variety of medical conditions such as epilepsy, concussion/TBI, and encephalitis/meningitis, stroke, and brain tumor. This position will cover two inpatient hospital locations with provider alternating days at each location. This position provides ongoing supervision for advanced practicum students. There is opportunity and possibility to participate in the design and implementation of neuropsychological testing research.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an accredited school or university whose curriculum in psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA). Must have completed an APA approved internship and a post-doctoral training/fellowship in neuropsychology in accordance with the Houston Conference guidelines.

Licensure by applicable state boards of Psychologist Examiners is required. Candidate will be board certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology and/or American Board of Professional Psychology or pursuing this credential.

Requires at least five years' experience with specialized neuropsychological testing. Candidate must be eligible for appointment to affiliate with the medical staff at assigned facility or work unit. Requires experience teaching and supervising clinical staff and therapists, and familiarity with research methodology. Experience in evaluating children in an inpatient setting is required. Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are required for patient care activities including documentation, supervision of others, presentations and conduct of teaching activities. Considerable reading and comprehension of printed, typed and handwritten material are necessary.

Banner Children's Specialists: Banner Children's at Desert in Mesa and Banner Children's at Thunderbird in Glendale provide comprehensive pediatric care from general to emergency, as well as services for specific childhood diseases. Banner Children's in Mesa is a trauma Level 1 hospital. Highly trained physician specialists, social services staff and numerous integrative therapy programs ensure a complete range of care for children. We have a child-friendly atmosphere accented by soothing colors and dedicated play areas, as well as a volunteer dog therapy program that helps cheer up young patients during their stays.

Banner Children's at Desert features 248 beds, specially trained nurses and doctors and family-centered care as well as an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - from 65 beds to 86 beds.
