Position Clinical Neuropsychologist
Location New Orleans, LA
Job Description Description:

A banner enterprise of the Tulane Department of Neurology is the Healthy Brain Aging Initiative (HBAI). This initiative includes a dedicated team of neurologists, neuropsychologists/psychometrists, advanced practice providers, social workers, and neuroscientists, aiming to promote healthy brain aging through its Center for Alzheimer's Prevention, its Center for Memory Disorders, and its Center for Parkinson's Disease. Through their partnership with LCMC Health, Tulane and LSU Neurology faculty are collaborating to build the region's only multi-institutional healthy brain aging initiative, and the largest and most comprehensive program in the Gulf South region.

This is a clinical and research position. It is estimated that the neuropsychologist will dedicate 60% effort to clinical practice and 40% effort to research, though the FTE distributions may vary slightly over time as needed. Roles and responsibilities include:

- Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with aging, behavioral, and cognitive disorders including: cognitive complaints but normal neurological examinations (subjective cognitive impairment), mild cognitive impairment, early dementia (Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia), primary progressive aphasia, posterior cortical atrophy, and other neurocognitive and neurobehavioral disorders.
- Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with other neurological disorders including Parkinson's disease and related disorders, Huntington's disease, and other movement disorders. Standard assessments pre- and post- deep brain stimulation surgery.
- Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with other neurological disorders, where neurocognitive, neurobehavioral, or neuropsychiatric manifestations are suspected.
- Conduct neuropsychological assessments of research subjects in support of the population health initiatives and clinical trials research of the Tulane Healthy Brain Aging Initiative, and more broadly of the Department of Neurology and Center for Clinical Neurosciences. Submit grants for external funding support to NIH and similar sources, to offset salary expenses and to grow Neurology research revenues.
